Position: Communications Officer
Location: Remote
Reports To: National Executive of the CBC PNA
Type: 1-year contract, reviewed quarterly/Part-time – 3 days per week
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Overview:
The CBC Pensioners National Association (PNA) is seeking a skilled, proactive, and passionate Communications Officer to join our team. This role is vital in enhancing and implementing our communication strategies, promoting our initiatives, and engaging our members. The ideal candidate will have strong writing, marketing, and online communication skills, as well as experience in managing newsletters and social media content, and will work with a small communications advisory committee of PNA members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation:
- Write, edit, and produce high-quality content for newsletters, press releases, social media, and the Association’s website (www.cbcpensioners.ca).
- Develop engaging articles and member spotlights that highlight the achievements and stories of our members.
- Marketing and Outreach:
- Assist in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns to promote events, initiatives, and membership drives.
- Utilize social media platforms to engage with members and increase visibility of the PNA.
- Newsletter Management:
- Oversee the production of the quarterly newsletter, including content planning, layout design, and distribution.
- Collect feedback from members to improve the newsletter and ensure it meets their interests and needs.
- Develop newsletter templates for use in the Regions and Chapters of the PNA
- Develop a content syndication service to assist Regions and Chapters in producing their own newsletters
- Webpage Management:
- Update and maintain the PNA website, ensuring that content is current, relevant, and accessible.
- Collaborate with other staff enhance the website’s user experience and functionality.
- Member Engagement:
- Develop strategies to engage members through effective communication, encouraging participation in events and initiatives.
- Reporting and Analytics:
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and marketing campaigns, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare regular reports on communication activities and engagement metrics for management.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, preferably within a non-profit or association setting.
- Proven track record in writing, editing, and producing high-quality content for various platforms.
- Skills:
- Fully fluent in English and French, both spoken and written communications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in digital marketing strategies and tools, including social media management and email marketing platforms.
- Familiarity with web content management systems.
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
